PostSubject: PRE-EMERGENCY LEVEL 3 FIRE RISK   Mon Jul 18, 2011 7:46 am

The Valencian Government, through the Co-ordination Centre for Emergencies, has declared today, Sunday, 17th July, Level 3, Pre-emergency, maximum risk of forest fires throughout the Valencian Community, because of the increase in temperature.

Faced with this situation, the Emergency Coordination Center (CCE) maintains contact with all local Ayuntamientos and emergency services in order to inform them of the scheduled preemergency situation. All troops and equipment being on high alert.

It is forbidden to light fires

The Government reiterates that it is forbidden to make any type of fire, including authorized recreational areas All local regulations for agricultural fires or any other type of licence, previously authorized, are suspended.

It is not permitted to have BBQ's.

Given the period of extreme risk of forest fires, the Government recommends maximizing precaution in all forested areas of the Community and to follow the orders arising from the declaration of Level 3 Preemergency..

Advice to prevent forest fires

Do not smoke while walking through the woodland, or throw, in any circumstances, cigarette butts or matches from vehicles.
Do not light a fire under any circumstances.
Do not use devices such as fireworks or explosive material such as firecrackers, bangers, rockets, etc.
In the execution of works or civil engineering work or any other type that may involve risk of causing forest fires (utilization of welders, brush-cutters, circular saws, generators, etc), company representatives and workers should comply strictly with safety standards for the prevention of forest fires in the execution of works and jobs being carried out on forest land or in the immediate area (Decree 7 / 2003 of January 23, the Consell de la Generalitat).
If you detect a fire first of all you can try to smother it by pouring water or dirt on the heart of the flames or beating it with a live tree branch. If you spend more than a minute without managing to suppress it, it must be reported immediately ringing theValencian Emergency telephone number 112 or reporting it to the nearest authorities.
In case of fire, always follow the directions given by staff who have been assigned the tasks of monitoring and extinguishing.

Remember, you can ask to speak in English, if you need to ring the dedicated emergency telephone number '112'.
